Video shows criminal fleeing Ohio courtroom, leaping from balcony
COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A video showing a convicted felon fleeing his sentencing hearing and leaping from a balcony at Franklin County Government Center has been released.
The video comes from three courthouse security cameras. In all three, 44-year-old Donald Mullins of Columbus is shown running with two MPs. He appears to drop a radio that was strapped to one of the deputy’s uniforms before jumping over a balcony railing on the sixth floor.
The woman who posted a video on YouTube showing the consequences is in sight and is warned by the deputy, but continues to record. (Warning: some may find the content of the video disturbing.)
Two other cameras on the sixth floor show the incident from different angles.
In the viewer video, Mullins can be seen lying on the fifth floor for several minutes, unable to get up and bleeding profusely. He was then taken to hospital for treatment.
Mullins was in court last Thursday to answer charges of aggravated burglary, robbery and theft. He had been found guilty after his DNA was found on an Oreo cookie at the crime scene.
Judge Mark Serrott sentenced Mullins to 4-6 years in prison. Mullins asked the judge for a delay before he was jailed to undergo surgery for certain medical conditions, but Serrott denied the request. It was then that Mullins, who was on bail, fled the courtroom.
