Seven wins network share but Nine is the No. 1 channel on Thursday

Seven took home the highest-rated network title on a quiet Thursday night, while Nine celebrated being the No. 1 main channel with Nine News the best subway program overall.

Nine News aired to 985,000 Metro viewers and was also the #1 Metro program in the 25-54 demo. Seven News had 982,000 viewers in the Underground, but was the No. 1 program nationally with 1.605 million.

The other two key ad demos, 16-39 and 18-49, were both won by Ten’s MasterChef, which garnered 599,000 Subway viewers for being the top non-news program and number 7 overall.

The honors were split between seven and nine


Metro’s share of Seven was 28% on Thursday, ahead of Nine’s 27.5%, Ten’s 20.4% and ABC’s 15.2%. But Nine held a unique market share of 19.0% ahead of Seven at 18.2%.

The No. 1 multichannel of the evening was 7Mate with a share of 3.9%.

Among entertainment programs, the only two outside of MasterChef to make the top ten overall on Thursday were The Chase Australia with 552,000 Tube viewers and Home And Away with 529,000 Tube viewers.

Nine’s Thursday Night NRL Live drew 334,000 Tube viewers, while Seven’s The Front Bar aired to 389,000 Tube viewers.

On the ABC, Q+A landed outside the top twenty Underground programs with 233,000 viewers, while Foreign Correspondent drew 360,000 Underground viewers.
