Man Utd and Liverpool set to save on transfers as Monaco lower asking price for Aurelien Tchouameni

Manchester United and Liverpool are on high alert after Monaco reportedly lowered their asking price for midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

The 22-year-old is a full player for Monaco, having already made 41 appearances this season. He found the net three times and also registered two assists.

Tchouameni cost Monaco €20m when he arrived from Bordeaux in January 2020. But the France international could leave for much more than that after impressing in Ligue 1 for the past two years.

The main English clubs on his trail are United, Liverpool and Chelsea. Elsewhere, interest is coming from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Previously, reports had put the price of Tchouameni at 60 million euroswhich equates to around £50 million.

Goalwho cite reports in France, take stock of the star’s future — and that’s good news for potential suitors.

The report claims that Monaco will now accept offers worth €50m (£42m). The reason for the drop in prices is however not given.

Aurélien Tchouameni could go to the Prem

This is a surprising position as Bordeaux will earn 20% of the fee through a sell clause.

Goal says Jurgen Klopp wants a new midfielder this summer as Jordan Henderson and James Milner reach the twilight years of their careers. That’s more the case for Milner than Henderson, as the former Leeds man is 36.

Chelsea are also monitoring Tchouameni’s situation as Thomas Tuchel is a huge fan. However, their financial difficulties, due to the sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich, could make a bid impossible.

For United, a firm decision should be made once Ralf Rangnick’s successor is found. Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are both up for the role.

Tchouameni’s contract runs until 2024 and is worth just £19,000 a week. These fees will increase significantly if he moves to one of Europe’s top clubs this summer.

Man Utd target Sevilla keeper

Meanwhile, United are reportedly set to Respond to Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou’s exit clause as doubts over long-term No.1 David de Gea resurface.

The 30-year-old has been one of La Liga’s most outstanding goalkeepers this season. The Moroccan made 33 appearances and was a major factor in Sevilla’s second place in the standings. And although they didn’t quite succeed in halting Real Madrid’s seemingly unopposed march to the title, Bounou caught the eye.

Indeed, the DailyMirror reports that United are watching his performance closely. The keeper – known simply as Bono – has been flagged by scouts as a future signing for some time.

They say United officials have asked Sevilla to be kept informed of his situation as his deal expires in the summer of 2024.

Furthermore, the newspaper claim that the £25m release clause in his contract gives United a solid chance to sign this summer.
