Kim Jones Dior Men’s Spring / Summer 2022 Collection
As we delve deeper into the future, fashion houses gravitate to the past through archival encapsulated wardrobes and saluting the sartorial traces of their home predecessors – that’s Dior understood.
Evolution, transformation and retouching are some of the keywords of the Dior Homme Spring / Summer 2022 collection. Dior Homme’s artistic director, Kim Jones, aimed to infuse the past ideologies and the rich history of the house into the landscape of modern men’s fashion. References to Marc Bohan’s work in the 1960s are reflected through graphics and inspirations taken from the house’s beginnings in 1947 and Christian Dior himself is reflected in the tailoring, floral patterns and subtle-toned palette of Earth. The sinuous vintage “Atelier Christian Dior” typography inspired by Dior’s Parisian workshops is stamped on a bomber jacket and pinstripe jersey and weaves its way into the corners of the pants and jackets, paying homage to the origins of the house. Accessories like the saddle bag and various parts of the “Dior Lingot” line remind us of trips or trips, something that was strangely absent last year. Still, jump into the present and there are similar clues to Jones’ sporty and streetwear sensibility, which can be found in the constructed and contrasting stitched windbreakers, quilted jackets, industrialized belted blazers and the latest designs. by Dior. In a press release, the house said that within the collection “fashion becomes the heritage of tomorrow”. This was commonplace for Jones’ role in Dior Men with his first collection in 2018 reinterpreting the “codes” of the house.
