Mysuru: Venkatasubbaiah from Sharadadevinagar, Vanishree from Cheluvamba Agrahara, Bopaiah from Vijayanagara, Vinoda Bai from Kuvempunagar and Dr. Rajeshwari from Metagalli who had fallen for online fraud and lost their money are all smiles again. It was thanks to who helped them get their money back quickly.
Venkatasubbaiah had lost Rs 1.93 lakh from his credit card and Vanishree was cheated out of Rs 50,000 via PhonePe. The other three were duped on the pretext of updating or verifying their bank details online. Two of them had lost Rs 1 lakh each while Bopaiah had lost Rs 30,000. In total, about Rs 4.73 lakh lost in five different cases were recovered.
Cyber ​​police who formed a rapid response team helped the complainants get their money back immediately after approaching the cops. Police said if online financial fraud is reported quickly, it will help them freeze the fraudsters’ bank accounts and then initiate proceedings to recover the complainant’s money.
Some disbelievers use various platforms including matrimonial sites, social networking sites, stock trading portals, foreign gift offerings, online loans, and employment frauds to deceive the public. Police have warned residents to exercise caution when sharing OTPs and personal details.
